Tim Howard aims to play against Slovenia Friday
American goalkeeper Tim Howard, the hero from Saturday's 1-1 draw against England, is expected to play Friday in the United States' second gorup stage match against Slovenia.
According to U.S. officials, Howard has shown "substantial improvement" after bruising his ribs in a collision with England striker Emile Hesky in the 29th minute of Saturday's game. Howard went on to make several point-blank saves in the second half to preserve the point for the U.S. in its much-hyped opening match.
Slovenia defeated Algeria Sunday and leads the group with three points.
