Bryan brothers play for title Friday
Chest-bumping brothers Bob and Mike Bryan will be going for third U.S. Open doubles title Friday.
The top ranked American doubles team will face the Indian/Pakistani doubles team of Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi in the first match of the day, which is slated to start at noon.
The Bopanna-Qureshi team made some big news in their semifinals match. Ambassadors to the UN from both India (Hardeep Puri) and Pakistan (Abdullah H. Haroon) came to Flushing to watch the two men beat the Argentina doubles team. Pakistan and India, bordering countries, have been at war for decades.
"We knew to do well in the big events, that's the only way to, you know, pass on that message. (The ambassadors) coming here and watching us play, it's a big step for us," Bopanna said. "Hopefully with that and both our countries agreeing, we can have that matchup on that border."
