Roger Federer lucky and good to go up two sets
Jurgen Melzer served strongly and even had a couple break points in the second set, but a pair of net-cord winners for Federer in the tiebreaker, including an excuse-me return of serve that clicked the tape and fell over at 4-all in the tiebreak, sent Federer on his way. And Melzer was left yelling to the skies above Ashe Stadium, wondering what he had to do to get an edge on the five-time U.S. Open champ.
