Stanislas Wawrinka, the 25th seed, took the first set from No. 12 Mikhail Youzhny, 6-3, today in a men's quarterfinal at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The winner will play the winner of tonight's quarterfinal between top-seeded Rafael Nadal and No. 8 seed Fernando Verdasco.
