Super Saturday schedule
Here we go in a few minutes with what's usually the best day of tennis on the calendar: the final Saturday at the Open, with the men's semifinals and the women's final on tap.
Starting at noon, top seed Rafael Nadal, who still hasn't a lost a set through five matches, takes on No. 12 Mikhail Youzhny in the first semifinal. Nadal holds a 7-4 career edge in head-to-head matchups, though the two men haven't met since the 2008 Wimbledon quarters.
They have faced each other once here, with Youzhny beating Nadal in four sets in the 2006 quarters. Nadal's a different player on the hard courts now however.
In the second semi, No. 2 seed Roger Federer takes on No. 3 Novak Djokovic. Federer, like Nadal, hasn't lost a set here this year; Djokovic hasn't lost a set since the first round.
This is the fourth straight Open that the two men have met in either the semis or the final; obviously, Federer has won all three prior meetings, but they have been tight matches. Federer holds a 10-5 edge overall.
And under the lights tonight, Kim Clijsters goes for her second straight U.S. Open title against No. 7 Vera Zvonareva. Clijsters hasn't lost an Open match since 2003; Zvonareva is trying to cap off a tremendous year, with her second straight Slam final.
Clijsters would be the first woman since Venus Williams (2000-01) to win back-to-back titles.
We'll be back with updates from Nadal-Youzhny in a bit.
