Ticket confusion at U.S. Open

The scheduling chaos triggered by rain-forced postponements at the U.S. Open had some ticket holders confused and angry Friday.
Ticket holders for rained out session 20 were accommodated for the two men's quarterfinals, but those holding tickets for session 23, what was originally the Friday women's semifinals, were being accommodated in half-empty Ashe Stadium through ticket exchanges and through a designated seating area on the promenade level.
While all spectators holding session 23 tickets, which are good for Saturday night's women's semifinals, were let in the grounds, they were told they would have to exchange those tickets at the ticketing center to get into Ashe. Apparently some of them did not heed the advice, and when they tried to enter Ashe, gate personnel told them that their tickets weren't valid without being told they could exchange them. Eventually a supervisor decided to let everyone in, and there were thousands of empty seats from which to choose.
"Supervisors have the discretion to make people happy," said National Tennis Center managing director Dan Zausner.
