ACE. A bonus for holders of last night's evening-session Open tickets was to have the Roger Federer match, begun in the afternoon before rain stopped play, restarted in Ashe Stadium just before 7 p.m.

FAULT. Day-session ticket holders were sent home without seeing how the match would play out, with Federer trailing Marcel Granollers, 5-2.

ACE. Milos Raonic, the 23-year-old Canadian with the slick 1950s hairstyle, would not comment on how he keeps it neat during play. "I'll let the hair speak for itself," he said. "It has a Twitter account."
