No. 7 seed Vera Zvonareva just wrapped up the first set against Kaia Kanepi, 6-3, in 41 minutes. Kanepi lost serve for the third time in the set's final game.

After Zvonareva hit a defensive lob that sneaked inside the right corner, Kanepi faced three set points. She saved them all to get back to deuce. But she had trouble getting her first serve in, and faced with a fourth set point, Kanepi netted a forehand return to lose the set.

UPDATE: Kanepi opened the second set by breaking Zvonareva for the second time in the match. But then, she gave it right back by allowing Zvonareva to break her at love.. Just a moment ago, Stats showed Kanepi's trouble serving, getting in 50 percent of first serves and committing six double faults in the first set. The second set has started with three straight service breaks. Kanepi leads, 2-1, but she's still struggling with her first serve.

UPDATE: The windy conditions apparently are playing havoc with both players' serves. Through seven games, Zvonareva leads, 4-3, but there have been six service breaks. Zvonareva managed to hold serve in the fifth game, and Kanepi is serving now with a chance to square the set. Finally, after blowing one game point, Kanepi comes back to hold serve for the first time in the second set to even things at 2-2. At one point, Zvonareva whiffed on one return because the wind moved the ball significanlty.

UPDATE: Kanepi showed her frustration after failing to break Zvonareva and falling behind, 5-4, but she's hanging tough and just held serve to pull even again at 5-5 in the second set. Her problem besides the affect of the wind on her first serve is that she's not forcing Zvonareva to run quite enough. But she's hitting the ball hard and playing aggressively now. Just missed a forehand to the corner, but she has two break points. From 15-40, Kanepi lost the next four points, totally whiffing on one windblown ball, as Zvonareva holds serve to take a 6-5 lead in the seat. If Kanepi can't hold serve here, the match will be over.
