No one yet knows for sure if this will be Serena Williams’ last U.S. Open, but when she announced via social media on Tuesday that she is heading into retirement, ticket sales for the Open rocketed.

Some 4,500 tickets for opening night on Monday, Aug. 29, and 4,000 tickets for the following night were among the 13,000 tickets sold by 3 p.m. on Tuesday, according to U.S. Open spokesman Chris Widmaier.

A few $35 tickets for seats at the top of Ashe Stadium remained as of Monday evening through Ticketmaster, but according to Widmaier some fans are using the Ticketmaster resale site to sell their own $35 tickets for as much as $7,000.

Said Widmaier: “That’s a pretty big testimony to her drawing power."
