Venus Williams pulls out of U.S. Open

Venus Williams withdrew from the U.S. Open on Wednesday, the tournament announced.
The two-time Open champion cited an unspecified illness before her second-round matched scheduled for Wednesday afternoon against Sabine Lisicki.
Williams, 31, beat Vesna Dolonts, 6-4, 6-3, in her first-round match on Monday.
