Zvonareva upsets Wozniacki, advances to finals
Vera Zvonareva marched into her first U.S. Open Final with an impressive victory over No. 1 seed Caroline Wozniacki, 6-4, 6-3, in the semifinals Friday afternoon.
The No. 7 seed, the longest shot in the final four, will play the winner of Friday afternoon's match between Venus Williams and Kim Clijsters.
Zvonareva has never won a Grand Slam. She got to her first Grand Slam final this year at Wimbledon. She fell in straight sets in that final to Serena Williams.
