JetBlue’s “Just to Summerize” sale is offering limited-time discounts on one-way flights to popular summer destinations, with several routes from Long Island MacArthur Airport giving local travelers an easy and affordable way to get away.
According to a JetBlue spokesperson, the deal features a range of destinations trending with New Yorkers this season. Travelers can fly to Florida favorites, head farther south to Caribbean hot spots, or escape to a charming coastal town in the Northeast.
The sale runs through July 17, and applies to travel between Aug. 2 and Aug. 27. Friday and Sunday flights are excluded.
JetBlue’s new service from MacArthur Airport has deals to the Sunshine State, with fares starting at $74 to Fort Lauderdale and Orlando and $84 to West Palm Beach.
Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter called the sale a welcome opportunity for local travelers and the region.
"This JetBlue promotion is a great motivator to book last-minute summer travel. For years, we heard Long Islanders’ request JetBlue service from Islip, and last year, the airline answered the call," said Carpenter in a statement Wednesday. "Travel from Long Island MacArthur Airport is stress-free and convenient. I encourage everyone to take advantage of these low fares and enjoy a family vacation or quick getaway to relax and recharge."
From Kennedy Airport, domestic discounts include $29 to Manchester, New Hampshire, $59 to Portland, Maine, Providence, Rhode Island, and Orlando, Florida, and $94 to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket in Massachusetts. Discounted flights to international spots include $89 to San Pedro, Honduras, $109 to Guatemala City, $139 to Nassau, $144 to Aruba and $164 to Kingston, Jamaica.
From LaGuardia Airport, travelers can find $54 one-way fares to Fort Lauderdale or Orlando.
The fare sale comes as many travelers are paring summer vacation spending, according to a recent article from The Washington Post.
For those still hoping to get away before the school year begins, the deals offer a well-timed opportunity, said Long Island travel agent Nancy Gallub of Garden-City based ET Family Travel.
"Airfare usually is a big chunk of your travel budget, so if you can get these great deals from JetBlue, it would incentivize someone who probably wouldn’t have traveled this summer," said Gallub. "Theme parks, dining and hotels often make up the other chunk, so saving on airfare might give families more flexibility with those."
Starting at $254, JetBlue Vacations packages are also available, which allow travelers to bundle flights with hotels or cruises.
The airline serves more than 100 destinations across the United States, Latin America, the Caribbean, Canada and Europe.
