Meadowbrook Parkway crash: 1 person killed in North Merrick
A single-vehicle crash on the northbound Meadowbrook Parkway killed a driver Wednesday evening in North Merrick, New York State Police said.
Police said the crash occurred south of Exit M6 on the parkway at about 9 p.m.
Police identified the driver Thursday afternoon as Alan Ricks, 48, of North Babylon. He was alone in a 2013 Mercedes SUV when it left the roadway, struck multiple trees and overturned, according to police. The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
Ricks was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow but later died of his injuries.
Police asked that anyone who may have witnessed the crash or have information regarding it to call them at 631-756-3300.
