Motorcyclist killed in Plainview collision, cops say
A motorcyclist was killed in Plainview Tuesday morning when he crashed into a van that was leaving a shopping center.
The 33-year-old rider on a 2009 Yamaha motorcycle was heading north on South Oyster Bay Road about 7:40 a.m. when he crashed into a 2017 Chevrolet Van turning south out of a shopping center, north of Woodbury Road, Nassau County police said.
The motorcyclist, who was not identified, suffered severe head and chest injuries and was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:11 a.m.
The driver of the van was not injured and remained at the scene. The van was inspected for a brake and safety check.
South Oyster Bay Road was closed for several hours due to the crash and was reopened by early Tuesday afternoon.
