Hoka will open a pop-up store at Tanger Outlets in Riverhead next month as the sneaker and apparel retailer takes its first steps onto Long Island.

The pop-up will occupy 2,300 square feet at the outlet mall near the Coach store and offer running shoes and sports apparel, according to a news release from Tanger Riverhead.

The new pop-up follows Hoka's expansion in New York and abroad.

The sneaker brand, owned by Goleta, California-based company Deckers Brands, opened its Manhattan flagship on Fifth Avenue in 2024 and signed a lease for a store in Brooklyn last year, according to an announcement from the Brooklyn building's landlord.

Hoka executives also announced plans to open more stores in Berlin and Milan last year, according to a company earnings announcement.

Hoka will be the latest store to open at Tanger Outlets, which has seen a handful of new retailers join the mall. Shake Shack opened this summer and candle shop Loide & Co. opened last year, Newsday reported.

Earlier this summer, Tanger also announced sports apparel retailer JD Sports and fragrance seller Perfumania would join the mall, Newsday reported.

"Bringing Hoka's first Long Island store to Tanger Riverhead reflects our continued focus on expanding our retail mix with brands our guests are looking for," Lesley Anthony, marketing director at Tanger Riverhead, said in a statement.

Hoka joins the mall as the sneaker brand is seeing strong sales. Hoka's net sales from April through June 30 grew 7.7% to $703.5 million, compared with the same period last year, Stefano Caroti, CEO of Deckers, said at the company's most recent earnings call. That growth was mostly driven by the brand's U.S. stores, he added.

Hoka was founded in 2009 in the French Alps and acquired by footwear and apparel company Deckers Brands for around $1.1 million in 2012, Forbes reported.
