Addressing the Most Timely Issues Facing Women and Building Robust Economies

(PRWEB) October 29, 2015

As part of its ongoing focus to drive solutions that address the most significant issues and trends affecting women in professional life within the U.S. and global marketplaces, Womenetics continues to escalate its presence on the national stage.

In addition to convening major leadership forums in Atlanta in October and in Chicago next month, Womenetics played host this month to a pair of top-flight global advocates addressing the most timely issues facing women in business. Simultaneously, Womenetics continued to deliver practical workplace-focused solutions through its ongoing content delivery to women professionals.

During their exclusive appearances at a special Womenetics-led session in Atlanta, Melanne Verveer, former Ambassador-at Large for Women’s Issues, and Kim Azzarelli, co-founder and chair of Cornell Law School’s Avon Global Center for Women and Justice, zeroed in on core issues facing women leaders and companies at this juncture in the decade.

Both consider this period to be a historic time. New data published in The New York Times indicates a decreasing proportion of women in the U.S. labor force compared to 23 competing nations. In addition, a top male leader in Congress this month publicly cited spending time with family as a job-related imperative.

“This is a moment, a moment we should capitalize on, a moment to seize the opportunity,” said Ambassador Verveer, who currently serves as the co-founder of Seneca Women and executive director of Georgetown University's Institute for Women, Peace and Security and was appointed by President Obama to be the first ever Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues at the U.S. State Department. “In the process, we can advance women and girls. Because advancing women and girls is advancing progress in the world.”

Added Azzarelli, a co-founder of Seneca Women and chair of Cornell Law School’s Avon Global Center for Women and Justice: “Power and purpose are key.”

“This is an inside job. We need women in positions of power. We need women to develop skill sets so they can use their power for purpose,” said Azzarelli. “Then change can happen from within.”

The backdrop for their timely comments at Womenetics’ most recent leadership forum is a rapidly evolving business environment in which women’s growing economic power is emerging and workplaces seek to adapt to that fact.

“Our role has been to actively transfer intelligence from leaders directly and be intimately involved in championing global economic, political and social policies that positively impact women to others who can benefit,” said Elisabeth Marchant, founder and CEO of Womenetics. “Beyond convening leaders around best practices, Womenetics is deeply focused on solutions that develop competencies and business acumen where women can participate, compete and thrive in today’s workplace.”

Next month Womenetics, with the Global Women’s Initiative, is set to bring together another group of high-ranking executive leaders with women in various career stages across a range of industries, from healthcare to technology to financial services. A means of making connections via direct engagement, the half-day conference in Chicago on Nov. 13 is geared toward companies seeking ways to maximize the potential of their workforce by creating a work environment where women can thrive and succeed.

Six previous GWI forums have been hosted by Womenetics, which has continued to evolve its national presence in 2015.

"With workplaces today facing huge numbers of retiring workers, Womenetics contends that the best solutions can be found internally with the ranks of women in the workplace,” said Marchant. “But to be successful, their talents, competencies and skills must be developed with C-level leadership putting a top priority on this. This goes far beyond the original development of women’s affinity groups or employee resource groups. This is about the bottom line – not a group hug.”
