Lady Gaga revealed the genesis of her feud with Perez Hilton Tuesday on Howard Stern's radio show, prompting an immediate reply from the entertainment blogger.
"What happened was . . . I took two days out of my schedule when I was on a world tour to do an interview for him to support a show he was doing," Gaga recalled, "and in the middle of the interview he started asking me really terrible questions and he was being very negative about 'Born This Way' . . . And he was supposed to be my friend and I felt betrayed, so I started crying."
Hilton apologized, she said, "but I sort of felt like it was like, 'But I'm Perez Hilton so I'm allowed to treat you this way.' . . . And I was done after that."
Gaga said she felt betrayed because "I really supported him and I made sure that if people didn't want him to come into award shows or things like that, that I would fight for him to get in. And I'm thinking, 'My God . . . you've been with my family, we've eaten together, how could you ask me these [questions]? He was just framing everything like I was some sort of a failure now. And it really was hurtful."
Hilton responded with tweets saying, "I was the one who pulled away from you after I realized what a real-life vampire you are!" and telling Stern, "Reach out to me if you want me to come in and speak the truth about Lady Gaga!"
