Michael Lohan: I'm behind Letterman mix-up
Michael Lohan Wednesday said he was the source of the aborted offer to have his daughter Lindsay Lohan present the Top Ten list on Thursday's "Late Show with David Letterman." The program issued an apology earlier in the day for having announced the appearance without confirming it with her representatives.
According to a statement early Wednesday from Worldwide Pants, the show's production company: "Lindsay Lohan will not be delivering a Top Ten list on Thursday's 'Late Show with David Letterman,' as had been previously announced. We made a mistake. Someone purporting to be a friend of Lindsay's reached out to the show yesterday, allegedly on her behalf, and booked her to appear. Clearly, this person was not authorized to make commitments on her behalf."
Wednesday afternoon, Michael Lohan told TMZ.com that Lindsay "knew full well" about the Letterman offer and had even discussed with her father transportation to a Los Angeles studio, where she was to have done the list via satellite.
Someone affiliated with her professionally, he said, canceled the appearance, adding "Anything positive that I bring into her life . . . [her people] try to nix it."
He did not immediately respond to a Newsday request for comment.
The confused circumstances came to light Wednesday morning when Lindsay Lohan tweeted, "I am NOT going to be doing David Letterman, I'm not sure how this happened."
