Amid reports Monday that erratic actor Charlie Sheen is negotiating a deal to return to TV, his personal life also came to the fore, as did that of his longtime "Two and a Half Men" character, Charlie Harper.
Sheen, 45, who was fired from the hit show in March after highly public drug and alcohol troubles, may be in talks to star in a new, racier series with Lionsgate Television that could possibly appear on TBS, RadarOnline.com reports.
A TBS spokesman told Newsday that the network "is not in discussions for a possible project with Charlie Sheen."
A spokeswoman for Lionsgate said that the production company, whose shows include "Nurse Jackie," "Weeds" and "Mad Men," declined to comment.
Sheen spokesman Larry Solters said, "Charlie has been receiving several opportunities, but we can't comment on anything at this time."
Also Monday, Sheen's live-in girlfriend, Natalie Kenly, 24, became the second of what the actor called his two "goddesses" to split up with him.
Kenly, a graphic designer and the "premiere model" for the marijuana magazine Cali Chronic X, had shared Sheen with adult-film star and March 2008 Penthouse Pet Bree Olson (née Rachel Marie Oberlin) until Olson and Sheen broke up in April.
Finally, "Two and a Half Men" executive producer Chuck Lorre, who already has hired Ashton Kusher to replace Sheen on the show, may be getting ready to kill off Sheen's Charlie Harper character.
TMZ.com reported that while the ninth-season premiere will not shoot until Aug. 5, producers have been discussing off-screen scenarios, including one where Harper drives his car off a cliff.
A spokeswoman for Lorre could not be reached for comment. A spokesman for Warner Television, which produces the show with Chuck Lorre Productions and The Tannenbaum Company, said, "We have no comment on speculation."
