Fifth Harmony is full of surprises.

The vocal group -- Ally Brooke, Camila Cabello, Dinah Jane Hansen, Lauren Jauregui and Normani Kordei -- have become the breakout stars of the now-defunct American version of "The X Factor" even though they finished in third place in the show's second season in 2012.

Their recent single "Bo$$" (Syco/Epic) became a pop hit, setting the stage for their debut album "Reflection" due out in December. They took home the Artist to Watch award at this year's MTV Video Music Awards over the heavily favored Aussie boy band 5 Seconds of Summer and critics' darling Sam Smith.

And now, the group is headlining The Paramount Tuesday for a surprise show, one of only a handful the 5H ladies are doing before their album comes out.

On a break from putting the finishing touches on "Reflection," Kordei called from Los Angeles to offer five more things the group's fans, the Harmonizers, may be surprised to know.

THEY FEEL LIKE A GROUP NOW. "None of us had ever been in a group before, but we've adapted to it," Kordei said. "I thank God for it every day. Now you always have somebody on your side."

THE ALBUM SOUNDS DIFFERENT FROM THE EP. "It's really urban -- it's fun, there's a lot of bass," Kordei said. "I think there's a contrast between being vulnerable and, you know, 'Girl Power!' I think it's important to have that balance because you don't have to be strong all the time."

THEIR NEW SOUND WASN'T PLANNED. "We've grown as people, therefore we've grown as artists," Kordei said. "We still talk about girl empowerment because that's something that's really important to us, but we're doing it in more of a grown-up way."

THEY HAVEN'T HEARD FROM MICHELLE OBAMA ABOUT "BO$$." "Hopefully we're going to sing it to her in the White House one day," Kordei said. "Can you imagine? She would dance to it and know the choreography? If she knew the choreography, we would flip out! And then if [President] Obama knew the choreography too . . . "

THEY LOVE LONG ISLAND. "Every time we come to Long Island, we're like, 'Woohoo!' " she said. "That's so crazy to know that we were there this year opening for Demi [Lovato] and now we're headlining. It's really awesome."
