THE SHOW "Bethenny Getting Married?"

WHAT IT'S ABOUT There's a softer side to Bethenny Frankel, and then some. And it's not because the petite and curvaceous "The Real Housewives of New York City" cast member is six months pregnant in the premiere.

No, it's because the caustic Frankel, who's been through three failed engagements, is now madly in love with businessman Jason Hoppy. And at 39, after worrying on "Housewives" that her eggs are too old, she is pregnant with what we now know turned out to be a very healthy baby girl.

But, boy, is Frankel hormonal. We're not used to seeing her this way.

She and Hoppy aren't even married, yet on the show they're fighting like an old couple. Boring! The only reason why Bravo viewers even got interested in Frankel - however talented an author, chef and entrepreneur she might be - is because of her talent at witch-slapping the other chicks. (Still can't get over the "dumb drag queen" comment she made about LuAnn de Lesseps this season, can you?)

The eight-episode spinoff reality show does offer plenty of Frankelisms fans will enjoy. When Hoppy tells Frankel over sushi at a nice restaurant that he wants to witness the birth of their baby, she is against it: "You can see it for the rest of its life. You don't need to see it come out. ... It's a whole mess down there." Just don't expect her shtick to be as entertaining as it used to be.

MY SAY What happened to Bravo's provocative motto "Watch what happens"? There's no surprise here.

BOTTOM LINE If there's nothing else to watch, tune in, at least out of loyalty to the "Housewives" brand.
