Every year at my school, the fifth-graders get a chance to do something called Battle of the Books. This is when the fifth-graders read books, and a few are chosen to compete against one another to answer questions about the books they read.

After we have read the books, we are split up into two teams -- a blue team and a red team. The other grades also come in to watch the two teams compete. It really adds to the excitement and puts pressure on each team to do its best.

Then, the competition begins! Our school librarian asks questions about the books, and we have to try to get as many questions right as we can.

The team that answers the most correctly wins a gift card to a book store. It is a really fun way to motivate kids to read.
