This holiday season has gifted a sweet treat to Suffolk residents with the opening of Crumbl in Stony Brook. The oversized cookie chain opened on Dec. 19 in Stony Brook's Brooktown plaza.

The Stony Brook Crumbl joins five others on Long Island: in Levittown, Massapequa, Merrick, Oceanside and Port Washington. Franchisee Malay Patel operates the new shop with his wife, Riddhi, as well as the Massapequa Crumbl. "It’s been good to see because we have a lot of customers driving all the way to Massapequa saying they’re coming from Suffolk and far out," Patel said. "Now we get to be in Suffolk, and everyone here has shown so much excitement."

The interior of the takeout spot is bright and colorful, including the chain's signature pink-and-white walls. Three self-serve ordering kiosks keep customers moving. Patel said he has up to 10 staff members working at any time.

Crumbl has gained national recognition since its founding in 2017, largely driven by TikTok and other social media platforms where its rotating weekly cookie flavor menus are revealed. Crumbl's holiday-themed menu includes a frozen hot chocolate cookie, peppermint ice cream cookie and salted caramel brownie cookie. Guests can order a single ($4.99) four-pack ($18.49) six-pack ($24.99) or dozen ($48.49). Miniature cookies come in combinations of three ($9.99) to a dozen ($29.99).

Crumbl, 2184a Nesconset Hwy. Stony Brook, crumblcookies.com, 631-706-9723. Open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.
