Be well-trained at railroad museum party
Next weekend, you can show your grandkids how it was when you were a model student.
The Railroad Museum of Long Island in Riverhead is holding a 20th anniversary party Aug. 28 and 29. The museum celebrates railroading history on Long Island with several displays and actual retired railroad equipment, such as LIRR diesel locomotives and the first all-aluminum double-decker car.
But what may really bring back memories are the operating model train layouts built and maintained by museum members.
Admission is $6 for adults, $3 for children 5-12, free for kids younger than 5. The museum is open 10 a.m.-
4 p.m. For more information, go to rmli.org or call 631-727-7920.
