Early Sound Recording Workshop

May11

Experience and create a recording on a wax cylinder using an original 1903 Edison phonograph! This program features authentic phonographs from the 1890s–1910s and demonstrates how sound was first recorded and reproduced. Attendees will learn the history of early recording, hear original wax cylinders played live, and have the opportunity to make their own recording on a REAL wax cylinder, by speaking or singing into a recording horn, just like people did 120 years ago. Registration is required.
