Visit to school

Dina the arena hostess and “Sparky” the Dragon from the New York Islanders recently paid a visit to students at William Floyd Elementary School to talk about the importance of teamwork in accomplishing a common goal.

Dina likened the general manager, coaches and players of the Islanders to the school principal, teachers and students who all have different jobs but the same goal. For the Islanders the common goal is winning; for students the common goal is achieving a good education. During the assembly, three lucky students were chosen to compete against one faculty member in a race to put on goalie equipment. Utilizing teamwork, the students won.

At the conclusion of the assembly, the Islanders donated deck hockey equipment to the school: sticks, balls and goal nets. Students also received a bag containing Islanders trinkets.
