Bridgehampton school district
VOTING
2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bridgehampton School.
THE BUDGET
The district proposes a $13,778,439 budget for 2016-17, a 7.49 percent increase over the current $12,818,345.
The tax levy would rise by 8.7 percent, from $11,003,418 to $11,960,973. This increase exceeds the district’s tax-cap limit of 3.03 percent, so the district would need at least 60 percent voter approval of the budget.
School taxes on the average single-family home would increase by 2.84 percent, from $4,139.64 to $4,257.05.
The proposed budget includes a 0.5 percent contractual increase and an average 1.95 percent step increase for teachers. It does not call for any changes in staffing.
