Comsewogue school district
VOTING
9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Comsewogue High School.
THE BUDGET
The district proposes an $87,237,217 budget for 2016-17, a 2.41 percent increase over the current $85,187,350. The tax levy would rise 1.2 percent, from $52,892,350 to $53,527,217.
This increase is equal to the district’s tax-cap limit, so a simple majority will be required to approve the budget.
School taxes on the average single-family house would increase 1.2 percent, from $6,474 to $6,552.
The proposed budget includes an average 1.9 percent step increase for teachers, but no contractual increase. Staffing and programs would remain at current levels.
