Donna Peirez was elected a Great Neck Public Schools Board of Education trustee at a special election Tuesday.
Peirez will complete the remainder of Monique Bloom’s trustee term, which runs until May 2019. Bloom resigned in September due to increasing business obligations, according to a statement from the district.
Peirez received the most votes — 848 — in a field of seven contenders. In descending order, votes cast for each of the other candidates were: Nikolas Kron, 384; Joshua Ratner, 224; Lori Beth Schwartz, 199; Grant Toch, 117; Donald Panetta, 49; and Nicholas Toumbekis, 48, the district said.
Peirez will be sworn in as a trustee at the Board of Education meeting on Monday at the Saddle Rock School.
Two of the original candidates, Mariana Restia and Michael Darvish, withdrew before the election — Restia on Nov. 10, and Darvish on Nov 29.
