VOTING

2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Fishers Island School.

THE BUDGET

The proposed 2017-18 budget is $3,650,419, the same as the current budget. The proposed tax levy is $3,200,363, the same as last year’s tax levy.

This tax levy is within the district’s tax-cap limit of 1.26 percent, so a simple majority vote will be required to approve the budget.

The district said it did not have the necessary assessment information to provide information on the dollar amount of school taxes paid on an average single-family home.

The budget includes a salary increase for teachers, subject to completion of negotiations — 0.5 percent for Steps 1-15 and 1 percent for Steps 16-21. The district also would add one special education position.

THE CANDIDATES

Incumbent Jamie Doucette and candidate Robin Toldo are running unopposed for two at-large seats. Terms are three years.
