VOTING
7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Glen Cove High School and Connolly Elementary School.
THE BUDGET:
The district proposes an $85,907,869 budget for 2017-18, a 2.63 percent increase from the current $83,705,760. The tax levy would increase 1.38 percent, from $65,891,895 to $66,804,233.
This amount is equal to the district’s tax-cap limit, so a simple majority will be required to approve the budget.
The dollar amount of the school tax paid on a single-family house assessed at $500,000 would increase 3.46 percent, from $7,258.86 to $7,510.20.
The proposed budget includes estimated teacher salary increases subject to negotiations. Three administrator positions and two teacher positions would be cut.
