Harding Students Form Human Food Pyramid

Human Food Pyramid
Harding Avenue Elementary students learned about nutrition as part of a special unit in Physical Education. In a fun attempt to reinforce the topic, the school conducted a Food Group Challenge.
Physical Education teacher Richard Price led the students in forming a human pyramid. Each grade level was assigned a different color, with each color representing a food group or type. Students were asked to wear an article of clothing representative of the color of their food group. They were:
Kindergarten – Blue (milk/dairy)
First Grade – Yellow (oils)
Second Grade – Green (vegetables)
Third Grade – Red (fruit)
Fourth Grade – Purple (meats and beans)
Fifth Grade – Orange (grains)
