THE BUDGET

The district has proposed an $18,823,358 budget for 2017-18, a 0.82 percent decrease from the current $18,978,163. The tax levy would decrease by 1.16 percent, from $16,952,502 to $16,756,517.

This amount is within the district’s tax-cap limit of 2.05 percent, so a simple majority vote will be required to approve the budget.

School taxes on the average single-family home would decrease by 1.16 percent, from $3,244.26 to $3,206.76.

The proposed budget includes a 0.50 percent contractual increase and a flat step increase of $2,785 for teachers.
