New Suffolk school district
VOTING
3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at New Suffolk Common School.
THE BUDGET
The district has proposed a $1,314,783 budget for 2016-17, an 11.6 percent increase from the current $1,178,074. The tax levy would increase by 1.14 percent, from $789,500 to $798,471.
This increase is equal to the district’s tax-cap limit, so a simple majority vote will be required to approve the budget.
The district said it could not provide estimates for school taxes on the average single-family home because it did not have necessary assessment information.
The proposed budget includes an average teacher salary increase of 7 percent.
