VOTING

6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Earl L. Vandermeulen High School.

THE BUDGET

The district proposes a $42,879,851 budget for 2017-18, a 3.57 percent increase from the current $41,400,492. The tax levy would increase by 2.35 percent, from $34,807,214 to $35,626,700.

This increase is equal to the district’s tax-cap limit, so a simple majority vote will be required to approve the budget. The district said that an estimate of the taxes the owner of an average single-family home would pay is not available.

Raises for teachers in the proposed budget are subject to contract negotiations. The proposed budget includes adding three teachers and one paraprofessional.

Voters will be asked to approve spending $456,000 from the capital reserve fund for roof replacement at the middle school/high school campus.

THE CANDIDATES
