Sagaponack school district
VOTING
7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Sagaponack Common School.
THE BUDGET
The district proposes a $1,776,756 budget for 2016-17, a 0.24 percent increase over the current $1,772,505. The tax levy would decrease by 0.1 percent, from $1,715,205 to $1,713,506. This amount is within the district’s tax-cap limit of 3.4 percent, so a simple majority vote is required to approve the budget.
School taxes on the average single-family home would decrease by 0.05 percent from $1,689.60 to $1,688.79.
The proposed budget includes an average 2 percent salary increase for teachers.
A proposition asks voters to authorize the district to enter into a one-year contract with the East Hampton school district for educating students in grades 4-6. Another proposition asks voters to authorize the district to enter into a one-year contract with the Sag Harbor district to educate students in preschool, grades 4-6, and a five-year contract for grades 7-12.
