Nassau police and Seaford school district authorities said they are investigating an incident Thursday in which a high school teacher projected an image of sexual body parts in a ninth-grade classroom.

“There was an unfortunate incident that occurred in a classroom in Seaford High School last week where inappropriate images were depicted on a Smartboard,” said Adele Pecora, the district’s superintendent, in a statement. “The District takes this matter very seriously. We contacted the Nassau County Police Department and the district is currently conducting an internal investigation of the circumstances surrounding this incident.”

Nassau Police Det. Maureen Roach said no charges have been filed against the teacher as there is no evidence of a crime being committed.

Roach also said the global studies teacher was using a personal computer and may have inadvertently put up the image while searching for material to show his class.

A representative for the district said no further information was being released about the teacher or his job status.
