THE BUDGET

The district proposes a $159,004,073 budget for 2016-17, a 1.88 percent increase from the current $156,069,907. The tax levy would increase by 0.10 percent, from $110,510,532 to $110,621,172.

This increase is equal to the district’s tax-cap limit, so a simple majority vote will be required to approve the budget. School taxes on the average single-family house would rise 0.36 percent, from $8,374.21 to $8,404.51.

The proposed budget includes a 1.25 percent contractual pay increase and a half-step increase of about 1.25 percent for teachers.
