THE BUDGET
District officials have proposed a $204,444,527 budget for 2017-18, a 2.77 percent increase from the current $198,939,935.
The proposed tax levy is $151,992,599, which would be an increase of 3.4 percent over the current $146,991,010. This increase equals the district’s tax-cap limit, so a simple majority is required to approve the budget.
If the budget is approved, the average home would pay $11,275 in taxes, a 3.39 percent increase over the current $10,905.
The budget includes a 1 percent contractual raise and a 2.4 percent step increase for teachers.
District officials plan to add a half-day prekindergarten program. They also plan to add electives and music programs.
