THE BUDGET

The district proposes a budget of $2,949,339 for 2017-18, a 2.88 percent decrease from the current $3,036,916. The tax levy would decrease 3.75 percent, from $2,336,916 to $2,249,339.

This decrease is within the district’s tax-cap limit of 2.17 percent, so a simple majority vote will be required to approve the budget.

The school district did not provide the estimated school taxes on the average single-family house. District officials previously have cited residential property values within the district vary too widely to make the estimate.

The proposed budget would increase teacher salaries by 3 percent. There would be no changes in the number of teachers or other staff members.

David Eagan is running unopposed for one at-large seat. The term is three years.
