Kaitlyn Genari has racked up a long list of achievements due to her love of the Girl Scouts.
The junior at Division Avenue High School in Levittown has done everything from reporting the weather on WPIX's "Morning News" to serving as a delegate at the Girl Scouts National Convention in 2011.
Most recently, she appeared with a handful of local girls in a photo used on the box of the Girl Scouts of America's Thanks-A-Lot cookies, which are shortbread cookies embossed with a "thank you" in five languages. The photo was superimposed over a backdrop of the Eiffel Tower, and Genari and her sister Scouts created a YouTube video in which they rapped about the cookie drive.
"We had to go to New York City for a photo shoot, and we were put in front of a green screen; it was kind of surreal," Genari said. "I was really excited when I got picked for it."
Genari has been a Girl Scout for six years and is a member of Troop 924 in Bellmore. She is also part of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County's Chorus, Media Girls, and Girl Speak, which is a leadership group for girls.
At Division Avenue, Genari is a member of the marching band, color guard and National Honor Society.
