Cops: Man arrested in theft of wallets, cash and credit cards at LA Fitness
Nassau police on Friday arrested a Queens man in connection with the theft of wallets, cash and credit cards from lockers at LA Fitness in New Hyde Park on three occasions in August and September.
Third Squad detectives arrested Aziz Danish, 29, of 156-34 71st Ave. in Flushing and charged him with three counts of third-degree burglary, three counts of second-degree forgery, three counts of first-degree identity theft, three counts of first-degree falsifying business records, first-degree defraud, third-degree identity theft, attempted petit larceny and unlawful possession of marijuana, police said in a news release.
His attorney could not be reached for comment.
Police said he entered the men's locker room of LA Fitness at 1111 Marcus Ave. on Aug. 27, Aug, 29 and Sept. 29, and swiped wallets containing cash and credit cards from locked lockers.
He is not a member of the health club, police said.
Danish used the stolen credit cards to buy more than $4,900 in goods at the Apple store at 630 Old Country Rd., police said.
He was arrested Friday on Hempstead Avenue in Queens Village and will be arraigned Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead.
