Bayville teen pleads not guilty in nail salon burglary
A Locust Valley High School senior was arrested Friday night in connection with a burglary at a Bayville nail salon, Nassau County police said.
Christopher Crisci, 17, of 11 Summit View Dr., Bayville, was charged with third-degree burglary after he ran from officers responding to a call that Bayberry Nails on Bayville Avenue had been broken into, Second Squad Det. Sgt. Anthony Repalone said Saturday.
At about 11:30 p.m., the tenant who lives above the nail salon heard noises from downstairs and called the landlord, Repalone said. The landlord and his son arrived to find a side door open and Crisci inside, Repalone said.
Crisci reportedly ran away while the landlord called police. A K-9 unit and officers searched the area and located Crisci about a half-hour later on Greenwich Avenue in Bayville, Repalone said. After a brief chase, Crisci was caught about 12:15 a.m., Repalone said.
Police said several hundred dollars worth of stolen costume jewelry was recovered. Crisci caused about $2,000 worth of damage inside the salon, Repalone said.
Crisci pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead, where he was ordered held in lieu of $10,000. His relatives could not be immediately reached Saturday.
