Bicyclist beaten, robbed in New Cassel
A rider was pulled from his bicycle, then beaten and robbed by two men Monday morning in New Cassel, Nassau police said.
The 23-year-old victim was riding the bicycle at the intersection of Roman Avenue and Grand Avenue at 9:15 a.m., police said, when he was pulled from the bike and pushed to the ground by a man.
A second man then struck him with a baseball bat, and both robbers kicked him before taking his wallet and cellphone, police said.
After the two suspects left, the victim called police and then went to the Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow to be treated for injuries to his head, a knee and his left eye.
Detectives asked that anyone with information on the robbery contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
