Bronx man charged with scamming Inwood company, police say
A Bronx man has been accused on charges of forging his name to paychecks against his Inwood company's business bank account and cashing them, Nassau County police said.
Nassau County police said that during the scheme, which they said occurred between October 2008 and January 2009, Michael Osei, 30, of Sheridan Avenue in the Bronx, stole more than $8,000 from his employer - a supply company in Inwood.
Police did not name the company. They said Osei was arrested Friday at 7:20 a.m. at his home in the Bronx.
He was charged with third-degree grand larceny and three counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument. He was scheduled for arraignment in First District Court, Hempstead on Friday.
Police said Osei forged, then cashed paychecks in his name against the business account.
It was not clear how the alleged scheme unraveled.
