A body found at Hempstead Lake State Park on Thursday was identified as that of a homeless woman who had been reported missing from the park earlier this month, authorities said Sunday.

Catherine Brady, 28, had been living in the park when she was reported missing by a male companion on July 6, prompting several searches of the 775-acre park.

On Thursday, a fisherman found the body in the North Pond, in an area overgrown with vegetation, police said.

An autopsy conducted Friday by the Nassau County medical examiner's office determined the body to be that of Brady, but the cause of death has not yet been determined.

Police have said they do not suspect foul play in Brady's disappearance, and that the investigation is continuing.
