Cops: 4 charged with having fake travelers checks

A Brooklyn woman has been arrested after passing four fraudulent $100 American Express Travelers Checks at Bloomingdale's in Roosevelt Field Tuesday, police said. Police said during the arrest, and that of three others, they recovered $10,000 worth of fake travelers checks.

The four were arrested at 1:30 p.m. in East Garden City.

Nassau County police said the incident began when Tatiana Reina, 21, of 1120 Bergen St., Brooklyn, went into Bloomingdale's and made a purchase for $323.70 using the four traveler's checks. She received $76.30 in change and left, police said.

She was seen entering a white Dodge Caravan.

Police said they stopped the vehicle - and found the additional $10,000 in fraudulent checks inside the van.

Arrested were Reina, Prince Bradley, 27, of 91-57 116th St., Richmond Hill, Jaub Brooks, 25, of 169 Fenimore St., Brooklyn, and David Barnes, 25, of 41 St. Paul's Place, Brooklyn. Police said all four were charged with second-degree possession of a forged instrument. In addition, Reina was charged with petit larceny, police said.

All four are scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in First District Court, Hempstead.
