A surveillance camera video shows brazen thieves taking money as they rob a Baldwin deli over the weekend.
About an hour later another deli was robbed in Freeport, and police are trying to determine whether there is a connection.
The video showing on Newsday.com is narrated over by store worker Vicky Nimer, who says the experience that day stays with her.
"Now when I hear the door open, that picture comes to my mind right away," Nimer said. "Every time the door is pulled, I want to see who is coming. Not like before."
Three men, one with a handgun, entered the United Deli on Seaman Avenue in Baldwin wearing dark-colored hooded sweatshirts and masks. Two of them jumped the counter and took cash from the register, Nassau police said.
Nimer's husband sustained scrapes to his legs and hands while trying unsuccessfully to lock the robbers inside the deli, police said.
La Famosa deli, 3 miles away in Freeport, was robbed at 9:21 p.m. by three men dressed in the same manner as the Baldwin robbers, police said.
Anyone with information on either robbery can call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
