Cops: Two charged in robbery of Roosevelt homeowner
They approached the homeowner, who was sitting on his porch, and asked to borrow his cell phone to make a call, police said.
He said yes, they made the call - and then punched him, kicked him and robbed him, forcing their way into his Roosevelt home, Nassau County police said.
The two men - James Parker, 20, of 391 Lenox Ave., Uniondale, and Trevor Williams, 21, of 451 Fulton Ave., Hempstead - were arrested a short time after the Thursday robbery on Manhattan Avenue, police said. Both are charged with second-degree burglary and second-degree robbery.
They are scheduled for arraignment in First District Court, Hempstead, on Friday.
Police said Parker punched the victim in the side of his head with a "closed fist," knocking the man to the ground in the 5:15 p.m. incident.
Then the two kicked the victim, pushed him into his home and robbed the place, police said.
Taken was a laptop computer, a digital camera, two cell phones and $480 in cash.
Police said the two fled but officers found Parker near the corner of Cedar Street and Lenox Avenue while Williams was arrested trying to flee Parker's house through a rear window. The computer was recovered and returned, police said.
