A Bay Shore woman has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child after police said she drove another woman to a drug transaction in Wantagh with four children under age 17 in the car.

The alleged incident occurred on Sept. 14, police said in a Monday morning news release.

Nassau County police said Cynthia Carter, 49, of West Garfield Street, Bay Shore, and Tamisha Kilpatrick, 21, of Prospect Street in Central Islip, were arrested on Sunday evening.

The children were ages 7, 2, 1 and 7 months at the time of the incident, police said.

The relationship between the children and the women was not immediately clear.

Police said that Carter "was observed" driving Kilpatrick to Wantagh to sell crack - and that the children were in the car at the time of the sale.

In addition to being charged with endangering the welfare of a child, Carter was charged with fourth-degree criminal facilitation, police said.

Kilpatrick was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.

Both are scheduled for arraignment Monday in First District Court, Hempstead.
